Pakistan threat to civil society

Main trends in Pakistan that have been collected by the Early Warning System partners:

 

  • Pakistan civil society has difficulty carrying out operations due to various threats from the state targeting civil society. Threats from non-state actors to civilians and civil society at large are also common.

Talking Points about Charities and Civil Society for State Dept. Public Meetings on UN Human Rights Commission Universal Periodic Review of US

U.S. charitable, development, grantmaking, faith-based and peacebuilding organizations support and protect the most vulnerable in the world, promote human rights and contribute to sustaining democratic societies.  But U.S. security policy creates unnecessary and unreasonable barriers to practicing these values and is inconsistent with human rights principles.
