CIVICUS Civil Society Index Country Report: Rwanda

The CIVICUS Civil Society Index (CSI) is pleased to announce the publication of the CSI report from Rwanda. The project was implemented in Rwanda by the Conseil de Concertation des Organisations d’Appui aux Initiatives de Base (CCOAIB), with financial support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Umurabyo journalists appear in court

Two journalists of the controversial weekly tabloid, Umurabyo, Agnes Nkusi Uwimana, the editor and her co-writer, Saidath Mukakibibi, were yesterday charged before the High Court with threatening state security by publishing material with an aim of inciting public disorder and creating ethnic divisions.

Deux journalistes de Umurabyo accusées de diffamation, de divionisme et d'idéologie du genocide, aussi d'inciter le public à la desobéissance se sont présentées devant le tribunal. Le procureur demande à la cour une pine d'emoprisonnement de 33 ans.
