Nabeel Rajab Jailed for Twitter Statements

The BBC News and other media outlets report that Mr. Nabel Rajab on of Bahrain's leading democracy and human rights activits, has been sentenced to three months in jail for statements and comments he put on Twitter. On Saturday May 5th,Mr.Rajab was arrested by Bahraini authorites at Manama Airport after returning from Beirut, Lebanon. On May 28th, he was released on nearly US $1,600 bail. According to Freedom House, Mr.

CIVICUS Civil Society Index Country Report: Kosovo

CIVICUS is pleased to announce the publication of the CSI Analytical Country Report from Kosovo. The project was implemented in Kosovo by the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF), with financial support from Balkan Trust for Democracy.

 The report, entitled “Better Governance for a Greater Impact: A call for citizens”, highlights the importance of citizens working towards enhanced governance if civil society is to achieve its full impact in Kosovo.
