My Account section in the left or right column

Clicking through Create content>Profile lead to a different (and more limited) page layout then when clicking through first My Account and then through Edit>Profile, (which would be the preferred page layout for both).

A normal user can no longer

A normal user can no longer create a profile from the create content menu link.
